Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) Breakfast Briefing

Investors and food companies are invited to discuss the results of the fifth Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) at a breakfast briefing hosted by Coller Capital in London, UK.

Animal welfare in supply chains is a burgeoning issue for investors and food companies. Consumers are increasingly concerned about where their food comes from, and with this comes greater demand for clear information on farm animal welfare. The issue presents a material risk to companies and their investors: poor animal welfare standards can result in reputational damage which is often followed by a fall in financial value – notwithstanding the associated business risks of disease outbreak and negative environmental impacts.

Positively, 26 companies have moved up the ranking by at least one tier since the previous benchmark.

At the briefing, company representatives and investors will share the successes and challenges they have faced to raise animal welfare standards in their operations.

Following a summary of the reports key findings, Expert Advisor to BBFAW Rory Sullivan will chair a discussion featuring insights from representatives of Morgan Stanley, Tesco, Compass Group and Cranswick.
