McDonald’s Faces Investor Demands to Lower Antibiotic Use

Asset managers, Legal & General Investment Management and Amundi, have teamed up to encourage McDonald’s to reduce the use of antibiotics in its food supply chain. They are supporting a resolution proposed by Shareholder Commons, urging McDonald’s to adhere to WHO’s guidelines on the use of medically important antimicrobials in animals for food production. The investors’ concerns stem from the increasing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which leads to millions of deaths annually.
