CRM Data Steward (SalesForce)

Background:

The FAIRR Initiative is the fastest growing ESG investor network with more than 400 investor members representing over $70 trillion in combined assets to leverage capital markets and drive positive change across the global food sector. FAIRR focuses on raising awareness on the key environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities impacting the protein value chain.

The Jeremy Coller Foundation (JCF) is a private foundation based in London and operating globally. The successful candidate will join the FAIRR initiative and will contribute to the JCF's broader policy interests on intensive animal agriculture, sustainable proteins and other ongoing work.

About the role:

This standalone role is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in data stewardship and database administration using the CRM database, Salesforce.

The CRM Data Steward will champion the use of Salesforce acting as a subject matter expert and the go-to person on Salesforce on the FAIRR team - to improve the quality and completeness of FAIRR’s key data assets held within the organisation’s CRM and other data platforms.

The CRM Data Steward will work methodically to complete required tasks with a high degree of focus on accuracy and attention to detail. The CRM steward will work proactively with stakeholders to resolve data discrepancies and will always strive to ensure processes are efficient by making recommendations for improvements. The steward will proactively escalate issues to relevant stakeholders and ensure any issues logged, tracked and successfully resolved.

The role will support stakeholders by analysing business processes, identify areas for improvement, and recommend optimal solutions using Salesforce best practices guiding the organisation through improvements and evolutions to the system (you will have technical support on this externally and will not be expected to code the system).

The role will support FAIRR, an organisation of approximately 45 people, under the direction of the FAIRR’s executive leadership team. The role will work closely with stakeholders and Salesforce Ambassadors from the Outreach, Data & Research, Thematic Research & Engagements, Communications & Marketing and Policy teams to upskill their capabilities and ensure CRM accuracy across the group. The candidate will also manage FAIRR’s relationship with Salesforce, Cloud Orca, our current Salesforce support contact and any other related agencies.

He/she will be responsible for liaising across the Coller ecosystem, liaising with the Coller IT Department, Operations and HR and to ensure that security controls are in place to protect the confidentiality of our salesforce database, implementing the changes to the architecture of the database to ensure the CRM system is well connected to other external software used by the organisation (ex: Pardot, FormAssembly, Qualtrics).

The post holder will have a passion for data and will ensure they remain up-to-date with the latest Salesforce features, functionalities, and industry trends.

Core responsibilities:

Managing the Platform

  • Customise the Salesforce platform as per the requirements of the users

  • Manage the relationship with Salesforce, Cloud Orca and other related providers to ensure our license is up to date and our SLA for technical fixes and services is fulfilled

  • Ensuring integration with other external software used by the organisation (ex: Pardot, FormAssembly, Qualtrics)

  • Keep the Salesforce implementations updated with the latest releases as per company requirements

Business Process / Business Analysis

  • Understanding and analysing business processes by working with stakeholders to understand their needs, triage requests, and then aligning them with Salesforce

  • Suggest processes, best practices and policies for the team to have clarity on responsibilities and accountability related to Salesforce

  • Identify areas for improvement, and recommend prioritisation and optimal solutions using Salesforce best practices

  • Guiding the organisation through improvements and evolutions to the system and organisation of the database (you will have technical support externally and will not be expected to code the system)

Managing data quality

  • Execution of daily, weekly, monthly data related tasks and procedures

  • Regular data quality checks such as naming standards and record completeness

  • Maintenance of taxonomies hierarchies and static data for accounts

  • Ensuring that security controls are in place to protect the confidentiality of our salesforce database

  • Historic data cleaning and enrichment activity

  • Investigating stale data and remedying, as required

  • The reconciliation of data between multiple systems of record

  • Fix incorrect or duplicate data records

Reporting

  • Produce user adoption dashboards to ensure the effective usage of the tool

  • Assisting in the production of complex reporting requirements – helping teams and users generate efficient reports to be able to visualise the data properly

  • Assist Marketing team with integrated reporting on member engagement on the FAIRR website

User Support

  • Acting as Subject Matter Expert on Salesforce

  • Build and develop the capabilities of the internal Salesforce ambassadors at each team level

  • Train new employees on the platform's capabilities and features

  • Manage user accounts and handle issues like locked user accounts or resetting user passwords

  • Handle single-sign-on and two-factor authentication problems

  • Handle the deactivation of users for employees that may leave an organisation or may not require access to Salesforce data

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Good understanding of the data lifecycle i.e. data capture, update, usage, data lineage etc

  • Experience of running queries in SQL databases

  • Experience of using a CRM database for reports and dashboards to offer insights

  • Previous knowledge of a CRM system, ideally Salesforce

  • Experience implementing and integrating substantial system improvements within a CRM (ideally Salesforce)

  • Familiarity with Salesforce integrations

  • Experience with CRM / Database Configuration – Flows or Workflows (Ideally Salesforce)

  • Recognising patterns and issues

  • Strong skills in using Excel

  • Basic knowledge of GDPR

Desirable

  • Certified Salesforce Administrator

  • Specific familiarity with the Salesforce integrations Pardot, FormAssembly, Qualtrics

  • Expertise in configuring Salesforce and receive data from external APIs

  • Experience using Salesforce’s reports and dashboards to offer insights

  • Project management qualification / certificate
