Antibiotic overuse is a key driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), with 75% of the world’s antibiotics used in livestock. In addition, AMR is linked to biodiversity loss and negative impacts on ecosystems, as well as climate change. However, relatively little attention is paid to antibiotic overuse in the food and agribusiness sector or the role of animal welfare in diminishing the advance of AMR and its debilitating consequences.
In this webinar, experts on public health, animal welfare and responsible investment will discuss AMR, its effect on public health and biodiversity, what risks AMR poses to institutional investors and why animal welfare should have a pivotal role in activities on AMR.
