Crystal joined FAIRR in 2023 as a Policy Officer to support FAIRR’s engagement with governments, investors, and international financial and technical institutions towards a sustainable food system. Her primary areas of focus at FAIRR are the Agricultural Subsidy Reform and Just Transition policy workstreams.  

Working at FAIRR 

Crystal’s main areas of focus at FAIRR include the Agricultural Subsidies and Just Transition policy workstreams, for which she coordinates engagement with governments and relevant stakeholders, compiles responses to relevant policy consultations, represents FAIRR at relevant events and conferences, and provides policy input to FAIRR publications on these topics. Crystal also serves as the policy team’s lead on UK agrifood policy and supports the running of FAIRR’s quarterly Policy Working Group. 

Recent examples of Crystal’s work include FAIRR’s G20 investor statement with $7.2 trillion in support calling on G20 finance ministers to align agricultural support with climate and nature goals. Crystal also works in close alignment with FAIRR’s thematic teams on Social Risk, Working Conditions, and Biodiversity where necessary to provide policy perspectives to thematic reports and other publications. 

Experience 

Crystal has 5 years of experience spanning climate finance, management consultancy and legal practice. Before joining FAIRR, she supported the design of smallholder projects to increase the flow of climate finance to agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior organizations include Open Capital and ENSAfrica.  

Crystal is a lawyer by training and holds an LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an LLB from the University of Kent. She is currently based in London.
