Policy

Eliette Riera joined FAIRR as Director of Policy in August. She leads FAIRR's policy strategy, working across investors, governments and international institutions to advance policy solutions that support more sustainable and resilient food systems.

Working at FAIRR

As Director of Policy, Eliette leads FAIRR's policy strategy and engagement with governments, international institutions and investors. Working closely with FAIRR's research, investor engagement and communications teams, her team develops policy positions on key food systems issues, translating investor perspectives and research insights into evidence-based policy recommendations.

She leads FAIRR's work with policymakers and multilateral organisations on issues affecting sustainable food systems, including climate change, nature loss and antimicrobial resistance. Eliette represents FAIRR in international policy discussions to promote reforms that support more sustainable, resilient and investable food systems, and works to strengthen dialogue between investors and policymakers in support of effective policy reform.

Experience

Eliette brings 15 years of experience working at the intersection of international climate policy, sustainable finance and public policy reform. She joins from PRI, where she partnered closely with investors on policy and regulatory issues. As Head of UK and Switzerland Policy, she led engagement with two of Europe's most significant financial centres, driving work on fiduciary duty reform that contributed to legislative change in the UK. As a member of the NZAOA Secretariat leadership team and NZAOA Policy Manager, she played a central role in the initiative’s development, supporting its governance evolution, deepening direct engagement between NZAOA investor members and governments, and ensuring that investors voices contributed to the Baku to Belém Roadmap on climate finance. In both roles, she worked at the interface of investor strategy and public policy, building sustained relationships with policymakers to translate investor ambition into regulatory and political outcomes.

Prior to PRI, she spent eight years in the UK Civil Service at the UK’s climate and energy department (DECC/BEIS, now DESNZ), working across domestic and international policy. Her UK-facing work included contributing to the UK’s energy system reform, EU energy products review, and updates to energy storage regulation. She subsequently served as a UNFCCC negotiator on land use, forestry and NDC accounting rules (leading the EU’s negotiations team on the latter). Her last role in the civil service was as UK Lead Advisor and Alternate Board Member to the Green Climate Fund, the world’s largest international climate fund, with a portfolio of $20bn. She began her policy career as Science and Climate Attaché at the French Embassy in London
