Join the FAIRR Initiative for the launch of its Water Risk Monitor, a new report and tool designed to help financial institutions understand and assess the hidden costs of water scarcity across livestock supply chains.

Water is increasingly recognised as a source of nature-related financial risk, with prudential and systemic implications for financial institutions, companies and the supervisors mandated to safeguard financial stability. For livestock companies, these risks emerge through volatile feed costs, livestock production pressures, supply chain disruption and wider exposure to climate- and nature-related shocks. Yet these costs rarely appear in corporate disclosures, leaving financial institutions and supervisors without a clear view of the exposure.

This webinar will explore how water-related risks translate into financial risk, why they matter for financial institutions, supervisors, and policymakers exposed to the global food system, and how improved data and scenario tools can support materiality analysis, stewardship, and policy engagement. FAIRR will present the report's key findings and briefly introduce the Water Risk Monitor, before a panel discussion with experts spanning multilateral policy, financial sector risk, and investor stewardship on how water risk is being integrated into risk analysis, investment, and policy.

Speakers:

  • Martha Baxter, Policy Analyst, Agriculture and Resource Policies Division, Trade and Agriculture Directorate - OECD
