Shambhavi leads on FAIRR’s work on agricultural subsidy reform to enable sustainable agriculture uptake that improves nutrition, restores biodiversity and mitigates climate risks, while also ensuring just transition in agriculture.
Experience
Shambhavi brings over 11 years’ experience doing policy and regulatory research, development and advocacy. Her professional work has focused on best positioning policy to meet sustainability and social development goals while aligning public and private stakeholders on policy issues.
Her background includes working at the Government of India’s apex policy think-tank, NITI Aayog, where she worked under key agriculture & food policymakers and over 5 years of consulting experience at EY India, with a focus on economic analysis and policy advocacy for the agriculture and healthcare industry bodies.
At EY, she led multiple public policy engagements for industry associations to influence agriculture and food policy reforms, highlighting the challenges faced by the agriculture industry and farmers and developing policy positions that help overcome these issues and help grow the agriculture economy while considering climate and sustainability concerns.
At NITI Aayog, she was at the heart of agriculture policy development to undertake several studies, including primary research, on government support like subsidies and price supports to ensure food security and improve agrarian productivity and livelihoods.
She holds a Master's in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a BA (Hons) Economics from Miranda House, University of Delhi.
