Panel discussion | Paris meets GBF: Advancing the agricultural chemical transition to meet climate and nature goals

Wednesday, 19 November | 11:00 – 11:55 (BRT) | AgriZone, Arena AgriTalks, Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, Belem

Achieving global climate and nature targets will require a transformation in the pesticide and fertiliser industry, as part of the shift towards more regenerative and sustainable agricultural systems. This session will explore the impact of current agrichemical use on the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Global Biodiversity Framework’s 2030 targets for reducing climate change and nutrient pollution, improving soil health, and enhancing ecosystem resilience.

The discussion will also examine the policy, finance, and innovation pathways required to scale up regenerative practices, reduce dependence on synthetic inputs, and deliver a just, climate- and nature-resilient food system.

Mixer | From ambition to action: Aligning value chain actors to accelerate the agri-food transition

Friday, 14 November | 17:00 – 19:00 (BRT) | Regen House, Belem

Delivering a regenerative and resilient agri-food system requires a just transition within the planetary boundaries,   where food production remains within environmental limits while ensuring prosperity and equity across the value chain. Yet, producers, corporates, investors and policymakers often work with different languages, expectations, and incentives, creating barriers to coordinated action.

This mixer will convene key stakeholders to identify how shared language, trust, and financing mechanisms can accelerate systemic change. Participants will explore how to make capital flow more effectively, identify current challenges, and share replicable models that have already demonstrated success. The goal is to transition from alignment in ambition to alignment in action by establishing a coherent framework that integrates different value chain actors from finance, policy, and agribusinesses.

Realigning public and private agricultural finance and fiscal measures will be key to addressing climate risk, reducing GHGs and developing ecosystem resilience, all of which are vital for food production. This event brings together policymakers, investors and NGOs from China and Brazil to discuss best practices and how an enabling policy environment can support such realignment.

JCF-hosted roundtable | Enabling a just transition in animal agriculture and fisheries

Saturday, 15 November | 14:00 - 15:00 (BRT) | Action on Food Hub | Belem

Intensive animal agriculture and fisheries systems pose several risks to planetary and human health and require urgent reform. At the centre of this transformation are the farmers and rural communities, whose livelihoods depend on food production. This roundtable, moderated by the Jeremy Coller Foundation, invites stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue and send a unanimous message to UNFCCC negotiators focused on the just transition in agriculture, namely to include food and agriculture in the Just Transition Mechanism and to incorporate agricultural subsidy reforms.  The roundtable will be open to government bodies, multilateral institutions, development banks and NGOs.

Further details on registration and speakers to follow.
